terecan

Postby OGJON » Thu Apr 17, 2008 5:07 pm

any one got a terecan?
My wife & I have found a really well looked after terry with reversing sensors, reverse camera, nudge bar & nite stalker spotties for approx 26k is this about the right price it's a 2005 automatic model with 7 cloth seats, cruise cont 7 wood grain.

what are they like both on & off rd?
we took it for a good drive on rd & it seemed to handle very good
I know they have solid rear axle & IFS with proper Low range
what are the common problems with them?

My wife & I will be using it mainly for touring & going off rd nothing too hardcore mainly be used for med - hard tracks & camping/ towing
we also have a 40L Waeco cool freeze pro will the terry power it good enough
also what is the after market range available?

any info/ help appreciated.

cheers

Price sounds about right, is it crdi or v6. Petrol ones are pretty thirsty, the diesel is a great motor plenty of pull and good economy. main problems seem to be rear pinion seal and also front torsion bar bushes, a few people have had diesel pump problems and also rear LSD probs, but with 5 yr warranty you shouldn't have anything major out of pocket expence apart from service costs which get pretty high from dealership. As Nig says check out the Terry forum. I couldn't bring myself to trade the Terry in when I got my Patrol. Its just exceptional value for money and with abit of suspension lift they go suprisingly well off road.

yeah m8 it's the v6 petty,
just got approved for the finance over the w/e will be picking it up this week can't wait
we will be doing a suspension upgrade asap as it does do the typical nose dive when breaking, also will be getting a front winch bar to replace the nudge that's on @ the moment & will also be putting on a snorkel & some A/Ts & installing a UHF.
have just joined up with the terry forum yesterday.

I will put up pix of it when we pick it up.
cheers

Theres no steel/winch bar available for the terry's, just alloy bars that cost the earth. Plenty of post's about them. It's pretty much an early model Paj chassis, so you can adapt almost everything the paj boys do to suit the Terri.
Just don't mention it's related on the forum, some don't get it.There's some pretty cool Terrï's running around europe and korea.

yeah I know it's just a rebadged NL Pajero, I will be getting a custom tube winch bar & sliders made up by Heywire.

yup still keen but I am busy this weekend going to a few weddings & with all this rain the tracks will be too wet & we will just chew the crap outta them as they are mainly clay tracks, but yeah once all this rain has stopped & the tracks have had a bit of time to settle I will be heading out, I will give you a pm when I'm going to head out.
