My truck has developed a small shudder under brakes only evident at low speeds feels like its coming from the front only when you apply the brakes you let the brakes off keeps shuddering untill stopped . i have had the pads out cleaned them and roughed them up a tad discs are not that old in good condition , could a disc be warped or the slide pins locking up ,or even a piston stuck any ideas would be a help :?: :?: :?:

Actually sounds a little like a worn bushing in one of your control arms. To keep shuddering after brakes r released. Worth a look at.

Sounds to me like slide pins....same symptoms that was on one of my bikes a few years ago. Undo the calipers and carefully pull pins out ...taking care not to damage the rubber boots. Was them in metho and buff em with some FINE wet n dry ...also clean out hole part of caliper as well...and use some wet n dry on a screwdriver in there too. Only scrub it with wet n dry very sparingly until yu get bright clean metal. Lubricate the pin and hole with SILICONE GREASE and only SILICONE GREASE...fit everything back up in reverse order and check for smooth sliding. Dont just do one wheel ...do the lot and while yu are at it change your brake fluid too ...this needs to be done every two years to keep th brake innards healthy. Hope this helps.
Cheers Keith

yes was the slides but not from mud or crap the bottom slides were stuck from the wrong grease being used the rubber slipper tube swelled up and jammed the slide , just cleaned it all up cut the slipper rubbers back a bit and filled with rubber grease all is good now thanks for your input guys .... regards stormpatrol :D

Well now u mention that, it may be the Clutch??? They do shudder if not fitted correctly or if something is skewiff just the slightest, and it will stop doin it when the car comes to a complete stop or the clutch is depress i would guess? Is this the case
?

Fran kthe clutch shouldnt of been touched. you dont have to remove the gearbox to fir crawler gears, you just seperate the transfer case from the rear of the gearbox

I realise this Mark but whats to say the person who did the crawler gears didnt remove the box???
The only other thing i can think of is the output shaft of the Transfer case to the rear tailshaft???

Yeah the box stayed in the car transfer was split of the rear of the box , i will do a few tests tomorrow clutch in / out and see what happens , what did you say about the shaft from the rear output shaft can it be not put in straight or what??? by the way it shows no sign of vibration at speed at all just below 30 klms

I know its a bit hard to check, but is is possible that whoever did the gears let the prop-shaft slip joint come apart while it was un-bolted from the back of the transfer case? If it has been reassembled in not exactly the same alignment as it started that may put the propshaft out of balance and cause vibration that comes and goes depending on the speed you are traveling at.
